Neighborhood guide
Bankers Hill
Leafy streets next to Balboa Park, plus a bridge that wobbles.
Bankers Hill sits on the west edge of Balboa Park, with old houses, leafy canyons and some of the city’s best restaurants. The Spruce Street Suspension Bridge sways a little when you walk across it. That’s normal, and honestly half the fun.
Good for: Walkers, foodies and anyone visiting Balboa Park.
Skip it if: You’re looking for nightlife. This is a dinner-and-a-stroll neighborhood.
Getting there: Walk from Balboa Park or Little Italy. Street parking is free but competitive.
