Old Town

Where San Diego started. Now with more margaritas.

Old Town is where San Diego began. The state historic park keeps the 1800s alive with free museums and restored adobe buildings, and the streets around it are pure fiesta: mariachis, piñatas and margaritas the size of your head.

Good for: Families, history fans and margarita enthusiasts.

Skip it if: You want the city’s best tacos. Have the margarita here, then eat somewhere on our taco list.

Getting there: Easy. Old Town Transit Center has the trolley, the COASTER and Amtrak, plus the free airport shuttle.
